I have always liked making and tinkering with things. I learned to sew around 10 years old. I got active in LARPing in my mid 20s where I made most of my own garb, including hand made chain mail.

When my daughters were born, I would either make or augment their Halloween costumes every year. I also had to make something for myself to wear each time.

In 2018, while home recovering from minor surgery, I wanted to make "Big Daddy” from Bioshock for the Pflugerville library Con. Just to see if I could do it. It was made entirely out of cardboard. My daughters wanted to join in, so I quickly made a basic “Big Sister " and "Little Sister " from the Bioshock games.

We won first place, which included 4 tickets to Ikkicon.

I upgraded the costumes and we won a judges award at our first big con.  I've officially been into cosplay ever since.

I go by Rojin_Cosplay. Rojin translates to “old man". I just turned 55 in March 2023.

My construction process usually starts with an image or an idea and I just run with it. I plan as I go based on how I see things “probably " fitting together. Someone the idea works, others, I either make major modifications or scrap parts.

Ever since first using EVA foam, it has made building so much easier (and lighter) than cardboard and random materials I find.

My youngest daughter (17) has started building her own cosplays a little over a year ago. We have already completed against each other twice. I now only help her with ideas or advice when she is designing and making her own stuff. and sometimes help with free labor on bigger projects.

My cosplays to date are "Big Daddy, (first Bioshock), A Dalek from Dr Who, Big Sister, Little Sister and Big Daddy Delta, from Bioshock 2, Robby from "Forbidden Planet ", Latest is Fire Knight from Raid Shadow Legends.
