McKenna Michels is an up-and-coming pop artist from Austin, Texas. Her vivid songwriting allows listeners into her world as she shares uplifting, vulnerable stories about her journey through childhood abuse and the healing that followed. Her mission is to provide a comforting and safe space through her music for those who may be suffering alone, and aspires to help break the silence surrounding conversations on abuse and trauma.
McKenna has also been a cosplayer, comic and anime fan for over 10 years and utilizes this passion in her performance. Her single 'Survivor' has an accompanying comic of the same name that was released at Greater Austin Comic Con 2022 with Big Deal Publications and Arching Dog Productions. 'Survivor' is partnered with the National Epilepsy Foundation, as it tells the story of McKenna's friend Michelle who has suffered from the disease her entire life. The song is currently Top 25 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Charts and was selected by the In Your Shoes Foundation to be the official song for 'Heart Month' in support of those with Congenital Heart Defects.
McKenna's debut EP, 'Renaissance', launched her career in October 2021 with the success of the debut single 'Tired', which was Top 25 on the Billboard AC. This paved the way for her debut LP, 'Enlightenment', which was released in June 2022 and had the singles 'Broken Like This', 'Born to Die', and 'Survivor' all reach Top 30 status as well. Her music video for 'Born to Die' has over 1 million hits on YouTube, and has been nominated for and awarded "Best Music Video" at several film festivals internationally.
